STRAWL & OUT OF MANY
RASTA A GO RED

Oor, 2005
By Pieter Franssen

While our country is being invaded by the dancehall scene in all facets, think of reggaeton, there still are enough bands that firmly hold on to the roots reggae. Out of Many, from the province Gelderland in the Netherlands, is giving a small taste of their upcoming album, by pre releasing "Rasta A Go Red". Mixed by dubmaster Adrian Sherwood.
These four tracks, recorded in the Bigmouth studio in Nijmegen by Dr. Dub, create a yearning urge to find out what the album will be like. The classic roots reggae line-up of the trumpet, trombone and saxophone are hitting exactly the right notes. "Rasta A Go Red"and "Positive Meditation" have a spiritual vibe, while "Burn Dem" and "Ghetto Youth" have more of a fight for your right spirit. The expressive singing of Strawl, is noticeably good, and you will be blown away by the tight drums, bass, groove and skanking sound that is created. Well done! Respect and Big Up!

This is the pre-release of the official album from Strawl & Out of Many, a band from the Netherlands (the area of Arnhem). The fierce bass lines and the wonderful arrangements of the horn section tend to hang around in your mind all day. The powerful voice of the singer Strawl and the minor dub effects create a very mature sound. The debut album will be coming your way soon, keep your eyes open.

The best reggae band from the Netherlands has pre released a limited edition CD.
A maxi single called "Rasta A Go Red". The forerunner of the debut album, that will be released soon. Lead singer Strawl can not be unnoticed, for he will try to bring his message across. His vocals are very versatile, and can be thought of in the style of Capleton and Luciano, Respect to the Out of Many crew.

Wasn't this band just called Out of Many at first? So be it. This demo is a pre-release, there will be an album hitting us as soon as possible. And this CD promises us a lot for it is outstanding. The design looks good, with colours and fotos that can be recognized. The recordings are very clean. Not too many dub sounds and reverberations, which is quite special for a reggae CD. This makes it difficult to compare it with others. The titelsong proves itself to be worthy of that name, and all songs are provided with the consciously positive Jah vibe. This is shown in the lyrics, but certain lyrics seem like they have been made up in the studio while doing the recordings. Nevertheless Strawl & Out of Many deliver great music and have a strong front man, that makes me realize now why they are called Strawl AND out of Many. I don't think the demo is for sale yet, but still….. My advice is to buy.
